Lack of Access to Shorter PET Exams

Many Nuclear Medicine tests performed on gamma cameras (also sometimes called SPECT cameras) for cancer, infection, heart disease and dementia have been replaced in most of Canada with tests performed on PET cameras.

Tests on PET cameras are shorter, involve less radiation exposure to patients and are usually more accurate than our older tests.
